Asics is one of the O.G. sneaker companies bringing these two hot kicks with collaboration with Gettry, a japanese retailer. The Procourt Sidekick pack includes two sneaks featuring all yellow soles, single strap and yellow accents. Both Red/Green(not Jamaican) and Black/Black sneakers have a combonation upper of patent leather and leather. These kicks are not out but are availabe for pre-order at Gettry.

Bobby Fresh is re-releaseing two of their top selling shirts out in two new colorways. The first is the “Lick My Kicks” tee with “Mr.Super Tongue” himself, Gene Simmons, licking on some Air Jordan XIs. The second shirt is the “Addicted to Fresh” tee with Jay-Z featuring the print “Fresh” on his shades. Both shirts will now be available in the new black or white print. Michael Jordan into the Hall of Fame

Well, if you guys haven’t heard yet, one of our biggest icons in the streetwear game, as well as an NBA Legend, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame September 11th, 2009. Now, as some of you might know me, I am an all around sports fan and admire the legacy Michael Jordan has left in world of basketball. But no other athlete in history has contributed more to the sneaker game than this man. Because of this man, you are not rockin Hakeem Olajuwon’s or Sam Bowie’s (check ya history). Not to hate on these guys but Jordan was destined to land at his position and wreck much havoc to his opponents. His Air Jordan sneakers are also released on a timely manner and cause people of all ages to stay up hours and risk personal and professional backlash at the result of buying said shoe. I mean its something about the love for these kicks, that we who love them, can’t explain. Mr. Jordan has achieved so many accolades that it would take a book to catalog such deeds. So, with his first nomination, or should i say automatic bid, he is voted in. I will be watching and hope, those of you who appreciate his legacy on the court and admire his brand on the streets, will be watching too. He will be inducted along wit David Robinson and John Stockton on 9/11 on what looks to be another great moment.

For those of you who me, i love my Reebok sneakers. Back in the day, there were pairs that i always wanted but couldn’t get my hands on. Well, Reebok is re-releasing the BB4600 Suede Pack which were originally basketball shoes. These were one of the prized sneaks to drop 20 years ago but the love stll remains til this day. Look for them to drop in kell, royal and grey suede colorways. I still have my brother’s old boombox and LL Cool J cassette somewhere ready to take me back.

Streetwear in Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh: Sneakerology 101

Students at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh are earning college credit by taking “Sneakerology 101.” The hour-long weekly course explores the impact of sneakers on identity and culture. In doing so, it straddles the worlds of hip-hop, fashion and basketball. The course is so popular, not only does Sneakerology sometimes have a wait list, those who complete it sometimes come back the next semester for more. Some of the 45 students sitting in this spring aren’t even from campus.

Since its debut last year, Sneakerology has developed an Internet following among sneakerheads. The course takes a serious look at topics including early hip-hop roots and New York City street fashion, footwear advertising and consumerism, shoe design and technology, and the effect of boutiques and limited-edition releases. Naturally, a whole lecture is devoted to the history of the Nike Air Jordan.

As a mid-term assignment, students must design their own sneaker and compose a 200-to-300 word description of its makeup and what inspired it.

For their final exam, Sneakerology students take part in “Kicksburgh,” an April 15 campus event with vendors and artists that celebrates the city’s urban fashion and footwear.
